Mighty Meatball & Sauce Recipe

This simple dish will bring a touch of Italy to the dinner table! This recipe involves getting your hands messy so great to get the kids involved. Not only will they love making these Meatballs but they will enjoy amazing tasting meatballs, they have helped create, afterwards.

Step 1

Prepare the breadcrumbs and cheese. Pre-heat the oven atĀ  220Ā°C, Gas Mark 7. Grease a large tin. Place the Mince Beef and Lamb in a bowl and add the breadcrumbs, cheese and eggs. Crush the garlic cloves and add basil and a pinch of salt and pepper to the mix for seasoning.

Step 2

Mix with you hands and ensure all the ingredients are mixed well and not clumped together.

Step 3

Using damp hands, roll the mixture into small balls (approx 12).

Step 4

Place in the centre of the pre-heated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes.

Step 5

While the Meatballs are cooking, it’s time to prepare the sauce. Bring a pan with a splash of oil on a low-medium heat and add the Onion, Tomatoes, Passata sieved Tomatoes and pinch of salt and pepper for seasoning. Allow to simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Step 6

Take the Meatballs out of the oven, after 15-20 minutes and add to sauce. Cover the meatballs in the sauce, garnish with basil and allow to simmer for a further 15 minutes.

Step 7

Serve hot with pasta and warm crusty bread and grate the Pecorino over. Enjoy!
